Roadtrip 2019 – France – Les Gets

Published on 24 September 2022 at 14:59

Les Gets is a famous location known for UCI world cup, Crank Worx and of course French cuisine. Les Gets has beautiful trails and many skills levels, it is a kind place where you can ride a vast number of trails without getting bored. Even if you do get bored there are more bike parks in the same valley.

Les Gets trails

Les Gets is our second favorite bike park in Europe after Leogang. Triple 8 is an incredibly fun trail. It is flowy with medium sized jumps. Tomahawk is a faster flow trail with big berms and jumps. This trail is so smooth that makes it so much fun to ride. The jumps are positioned perfectly. It is family friendly and there are so many trails due to it being part of Les 3 Vallees (which includes Les Gets, Morzine and Avoriaz). On the other side of the mountain there are downhill trails as well. You can make great pictures at the big Crank Works sign.

Morzine – Le Pleney trails

The trails at Le Pleney more suited to experienced riders, they are a bit rocky and steep but great for downhill and enduro. When riding the red and black trails we got a couple flats of the pointy rocks. Dual ply tires are really recommended. The black trail (La Noire) takes you through the forest, it is a challenging trail with jumps, drops and other interesting features. The red trail (Le Stade) has a couple of steep descends but great to ride, if it rains the mud becomes very slippery. Finally, there are 3 blue trails which provides greats views into the valley and relaxed riding. Besides riding the trails, Morzine has a nice village, shops, great food and a nice vibe.

Super Morzine trails

Super Morzine has jump lines, berms, and is very flowy and fun. One of the trails passes through a field under the lift where friendly cows walk around. They don’t get mad and they just ignore you which was a fun and cool experience. Super Morzine is for all ages and some trails are more focused on beginners. The trails are great to practice tricks and hang out all day.

Staying at Les Gets camp site

We camped at Les Gets, camping Le Frêne. This was a great campsite at a somewhat remote location. It is first come first serve, no reservations possible. It has a bike wash station with some tools, ping pong table, pool and hot tub. Unfortunately they have a poor wifi connection. Every morning (in season) around 8 the local baker drives up to the campsite for you to buy fresh bread and croissants from the booth of his car. It is located on the mountain across from Les Gets bikepark so you have a nice view of the bikepark and city. You have to climb up the mountain to get to your campsite or drive up/down the mountain (which saves you quite a lot of time and energy).
